I am currently a student at Wichita State University working on my Bacholers of Fine Arts with a focus in painting. I delve into ideas of health, existence, and the reduction of the human and my emotions around these subjects. I strive to develop a world of awareness that we are all just meat. With oil paintings, I focus on human anatomy, the figure and consciousness. My inspiration comes from artists of the existentialist movement, as well as, my own tribulations. Bringing forward discomfort is important to me because it is a feeling we attempt to avoid, but it encapsulates what it is like to be human.
I experimented with combining oil paint and fiber art to convey these ideas in new ways. I found repetition of fiber art and the hands on process relieves some emotions I am attempting to translate.
